Interpol's Third Studio Album will be released on June 4th, 2007 in the UK and on June 5th, 2007 in the US by Capitol Records.[1] The long rumored title for the album is Moderation[citation needed].
[edit] History of the Album
In a March 2006 interview with Pitchfork Media, drummer Sam Fogarino said that the process of writing the follow-up to Antics is "moving right along where I think it should...we're all pretty much on fire about it".[2] An update on the official Interpol website in July confirmed that the band were taking some time off, but have begun writing their third album.[1] A recent update on the website states that the band is currently recording their third studio album in a New York City studio. After Antics, Interpol's contract with Matador Records expired and Billboard has confirmed that Interpol has inked a major label deal with Capitol Records. Daniel recently had an interview with NME in which he revealed that a song named "Mammoth" and "The Heinrich Manoeuvre" would appear on the new album, but refuted the rumor that Moderation would be its title.[2]
There is a fake album and songs circulating around the net. The so-called "new album" is Exit Decades, an album by Swedish band Cut City. The "leaked" Interpol track is called "Like Ashes," the opening track on the new Cut City album, Like Ashes Like Millions.
