The International University of Japan (国際大学: Kokusai Daigaku or IUJ) is a private university located in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
IUJ is one of the few Japanese universities which run their courses in English. It was founded in 1982, primarily with the aim of providing a platform for delegates from all over the world to come together and work towards the betterment of the world. IUJ offers master's degrees in international development and international relations, as well as MBA programs in business administration and e-business.
The IUJ campus has an extremely diverse student body, with students from more than 45 countries represented on campus during the academic year. To celebrate these international characteristics, IUJ hosts an international night called "Open Day" during the Fall semester, and "ASEAN Night" during the Spring semester.

[edit] Structure
IUJ comprises two schools. The Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR) and the Graduate School of International Management (GSIM). Both the schools offer masters degrees programmes. The GSIR school runs three programmes: the International Development Programme (IDP), International Relations Programme (IRP) and International Peace Studies Programme (IPSP). The GSIM school has two offerings: a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of E-Business Management (MEB) or "E-Biz" for short. All the courses are two-year programmes, except for the E-Biz programme which runs for one year. In addition, the university also has a Research Institute.

The location of IUJ is very scenic. It is located in a small place called Urasa on the eastern end of the Niigata prefecture. The Shinkansen (bullet train) takes 90 minutes to reach Urasa from Tokyo. Niigata City is 40 minutes by the Shinkansen. The university is located amongst rice paddy fields, and is surrounded by mountains, ski and hot spring resorts.
The campus is five kilometres from the railway station, and the IUJ Shuttle bus goes back and forth throughout the day. The campus offers various facilities like student dormitories, lounges, vending machines, a convenience store (open from 7:30am - 10:00pm, as well as sports and entertainment facilities.

IUJ encourages students to organize several formal and informal groups. Graduate Student Organization (GSO), International Management(IM) council and International Relation (IR) council are the formal organizaition. Every year members of these organizations were elected by the students. Mentors committee, Finance club, swimming club are few examples of informal organizations. The School sponsors different types of training for the students, such as, Mock job interview, resources (network use and protection, virtual library usage etc)utilization training and in sports, Akido training are remarkable.

Dr. Tomohito Shinoda, Class of 1986 graduate and Professor of IUJ - well published in the fields of Japanese political leadership, Japanese foreign policy and diplomacy, US-Japan relations.
