The International University in Germany The International University in Germany, Bruchsal (IU) is a private elite university, situated in the South-West of Germany, Baden-Württemberg. It was founded in 1997.

- What is so special about IU? Small, praxis-oriented classes enable students to obtain an unusual high level of education at IU. New students always start in the fall trimester. The number of students who enrolled has increased enormously from 35 in 2004 to 76 in 2005 up to 105 in 2006. The International University has an excellent reputation regarding the quality of its lecturers. All classes are held in English since 50% of the students are internationals from the USA, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Romania, Bulgaria, Mexico, Brazil, Taiwan, Singapore, Hungary, Turkey…

- The “IU-spirit” The IU is a global player. More than 50 different nations are represented in the IU community, offering the basis for a multicultural environment. 21 partner universities all over the world, a campus community and the strong emphasis on teamwork form the IU spirit. This is increased by the fact that nearly all students live in apartments on campus in multicultural communities. Everybody knows one another. IU students are one big family.

- New Programs The IU was the first university in Baden-Württemberg to offer bachelor programs. At present, three bachelor programs are available, namely Information Technology, Business Communication and International Communication Management. Furthermore, three master programs are offered: MBA Master of Business Administration, MICT Master of Information and Communication Technology and MScCS Master of Science (Computer Science). Thanks to a change in the university’s management, all programs were accredited recently. IU programs require its students to participate in a trimester abroad at one of the multiple partner universities and spend one trimester as an internship in partner companies. The whole bachelor study takes 3 years, ending with the thesis in the 9th trimester. Master programs take 16 month. Faculty: The International University in Germany comprises the following three main faculty bodies: • School of Business Administration • School of Information Technology • Department of Sciences and Liberal Arts

- Rankings: In 2005, students elected the International University in Germany the best German university for computer science in economics in a ranking by the magazine “Karriere”. Also in the field of business economics it was among the top ten. This success has been supported by the “Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung” (CHE), ranking IU among the top flights as well. Consequently, IU graduates are now represented in key positions at technological leaders in the Germany.

- Career Services: IU prides itself on equipping its students for finding high-quality career opportunities. To complement the special IU team-internship and projects which introduce students to companies during their studies, the Career Services Officer empowers students to become active participants in their own career development. Through career exploration and experiential opportunities, students are motivated to expand their knowledge of themselves and the business world in a dynamic global community. The IU annually organizes the company contact fair "Career Day" where companies introduce themselves to the students as potential employers. Furthermore, company visits are offered (the latest ones to Porsche and ZDF). Also, the “IU Speakers Series” comprises a series of lectures by leading businessmen and politicians on relevant, contemporary issues. The lectures are designed to complement the academic program, provoke debate and give insight into topics that might not be directly addressed in individual classes. The series is organized by and for the students and typically takes place once per trimester.

- Clubs The university possesses several student-organized clubs. Among them are the debating society, the robotics club, the choir, the MUN-club and various sports teams ranging from basketball, soccer and volleyball to cheerleading and biking, to name only a few. IU students regularly participate in international competitions like the MUN debate in Istanbul, the Eurosportland 2006 in Milano or the EBS (European Business School) Sports Challenge in Wiesbaden in March 2007. The IU also regularly organizes traditional festivals and international evenings like the Diwali Festival and offers trips to local events like the Frankfurter Buchmesse or recreation trips in the black forest.
