International Society of Bassists

The International Society of Bassists, or ISB, is an organization for anybody who enjoys the double bass. The society was founded in 1967 by Gary Karr.

Every other year, the society holds a convention that consists of music competitions. The society has about 3,000 members in about 40 countries. For example, in the summer of 2005, the ISB convention was held in Kalamazoo, Michigan, under the direction of double bassist Thomas Knific.
