The International Screenwriters' Festival is based in Cheltenham, United Kingdom and is dedicated to the art and craft of Screenwriting, Scriptwriting and Teleplay writing. From Tuesday 27th to Friday 30th June 2006, over 500 delegates from all over the world including, USA, Australia, and Israel descended to the Cheltenham Film Studios and The Manor by the Lake in the small Cotswold town to listen to guest speakers including Jimmy McGovern, Guillermo Del Toro, Robert Wiede,William Nicholson, Nicolas Roeg as well as Julian Fellowes, Olivia Hetreed, Paul Weiland, Stephen Woolley and Tony Grisoni to name but a few, talking about such subjects as 'Adapting from books and other sources', 'The difficulty and difference in Writing Comedy for film and/or television', 'How to survive in Hollywood as a working writer' and 'Writing Horror' as well as a host of other topics, screenings, live commentaries, panels and Q&A's. We also had our first 'Pitch Factor' where ten finalists got to pitch their various ideas to a panel made up of industry professionals.

The next International Screenwriters' Festival is currently in the pre-planning stages, and will be at the same location, The Manor by the Lake, in Cheltenham from Tuesday 3rd to Friday 6th July 2007.
