From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

International School Lagos (ISL) was established in 1980. The school is located in University of Lagos (Unilag) in Nigeria. There was already a primary school in Unilag and there was a desperate need for a secondary school for the children of lecturers and other staff. The establishment of the International School in 1981 and its movement to a permanent site in October 1985 was part of the high points of the University of Lagos. Its campus has modern buildings and architecture.

International School Lagos is an outstanding secondary school located within the University of Lagos. The school is known for its strong academics and athletic awards. The school has unlimited access to the gym facilities at The University of Lagos and students are able to engage in any sport they desired on a more extensive and competitive level. It has also been able to draw upon teaching talent that is typically not available to secondary schools.

Many Students of the school have gone to be great leaders in society. The School is also known for its enrollment of the children of the top echelon of Lagos society. It also shares a sometimes not-so-healthy rivalry with Kings College and Queens College. ISL alumni have won notable awards and have gone on to attend universities around the world, particularly in Nigeria, Britain and the United States.

With the significant rise in the number of private schools in Nigeria, the school now faces increasing pressure to remain as selective and exclusive as it once was.
