International Kendo Federation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Kendo Federation (FIK) was founded in 1970. Seventeen countries and regions participated when it was established, but the number had grown to 45 countries and regions by December 2005. The Federation is a non-governmental organization, and its aim is to promote and popularize kendo, iaido and jodo.

The FIK was accepted as a member of the General Association of International Sporting Federations (GAISF) in April 2006. As a consequence the previous acronym of IKF was altered to FIK.

The secretariat of the FIK is located in the All Japan Kendo Federation building in Tokyo.
