International DanceSport Federation

International DanceSport Federation (IDSF) (formerly ICAD) was founded in 1957. Its Statutes say in part: "The International DanceSport Federation (IDSF) is the international federation governing all aspects of Dancesport worldwide, either directly through its own organs, or through its national member bodies, or by administrative agreements with other persons and organisations....The IDSF controls all international DanceSport competitions and the granting of DanceSport competitions, which are subject to IDSF rules."

It is a member of the following international federations:

The International Olympic Committee granted full IOC Recognition of DanceSport and of IDSF as sole representative body on September 5, 1997.

As of 2006 IDSF has 86 national member federations, 57 of which are recognized by their National Olympic Committees.


The International News (Tanzsportmagazin) was the official IDSF magazine, published by International DanceSport Media GmGH, Switzerland during 1998--2004.Since 2004 a colored PDF format downloadable magazine DanceSport Today is issued as the official IDSF magazine, with limited number of printed copies available upon ordering from the IDSF website.
