From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Creed for Peace(ICP) is an initiative of the International Peace Institute established in 2005 to build peace among human beings and nations

The Creed is formulated in two parts; the first part asserts the realisation of Independence, Freedom and Justice while the second part makes demand for choosing belief, staying alive and respecting others.

[edit] Background

The Creed redefines Independence; as dependence on self. Freedom; as non-subjection by others. Justice; as knowledge of good and evil yet judging people not by what they do but by who they are. Peace; as satisfaction with self and others. War; as condition with self and others when peace is not present

The Creed holds that, Independence, freedom, justice are hidden human values, that these values are inherent in every human being. that these values when active will bring peace, that these values not active will produce war.

[edit] Preamble

  1. the realisation of independence, freedom and justice inherent to all nations is the origin for peace
  2. war among nations is a natural reaction to the absence of peace
  3. war among nations is temporary peace until peace is achieved or restored
  4. nations who are able to restore peace conquer war
  5. nations who are not able to conquer war remain in war
  6. the identification to the origin for peace and the role of war among nations will help build a world of peace and progress

[edit] ICP original text

  • I am Independent
  • I am free
  • I am just
  • Therefore;
  • I have a duty to choose my belief
  • I have a duty to be alive
  • I have a duty to respect others[citation needed]

[edit] ICP Theory on Peace

In the International Creed for Peace, Chika Sylva-Olejeme and the International Peace Institute define war as "a natural reaction to the absence of peace" and "temporary peace until peace is achieved or restored". Peace is presented as a universal struggle when at calm and when in war, older arguments similar to this is that “nations prefer peace rather than war though they engage in war ”[citation needed]

[edit] ICP Argument

the ICP argument attempts to provide hamony between theism and atheism in other to justify its conclusion that Independence Freedom and Justice are realities for peace

1, theism in its highest form is near atheism

if in the concept of God, the human being is the representative of God, if God exists in the thoughts and beliefs of human beings; then to believe in God is to believe solely in the human being

2, atheism in its highest form is near theism

if in the concept of no God, there is no evidence of the existence of God except for imagination, if God exists only in thoughts and beliefs of human beings; then to believe solely in the human being is to believe in God in the fundamental sense
