Interferometric modulator display

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Interferometric modulator display (IMOD)[1] is an electronic display technology that exploits microscopic mechanical structures that reflect light in such a way that specific wavelengths interfere with each other to create vivid colors, like those of a butterfly's wings. This can produce pure, bright colors using very little power. Qualcomm has demonstrated the technology in prototype. IMOD technology was developed for use in mobile phones[1] and other portable devices.
