InterTrust Technologies

InterTrust Technologies Corporation was founded by Victor Shear in 1990 to develop and market technologies for digital rights management (DRM). Its initial public offering (IPO) was in November 1999. It was purchased by Sony and Philips in November 2002.

InterTrust holds 35 U.S. patents and has over 100 patent applications pending worldwide. In April 2004, Microsoft Corporation took a comprehensive license to Intertrust’s patent portfolio for a one-time payment of $440 million. [1]
