Instituto O'Higgins is a well-known catholic school founded in 1915 by four Marist Brothers, Andrés, Donato, Cristobal and Salvador María. It's located in the center of Rancagua, Chile.

Originally, the Instituto O'Higgins was exclusively for boys, but since the year 2000 there has been children of both genders.

The Instituto O'Higgins' students are known in the city as "los mochos", which in the local slang means "short". This aplying first to the Marist Brothers, said that they were lacking something to become priests. In time, the term was passed to the students, pointing their affiliation with their school.

This school has a sports park called Estadio Marista (Marist Stadium), located in the town of Machali, near to Rancagua.
