Institute of Engineering

Institute of Engineering, established in 1972, is Nepal's premier engineering college. It is located near the capital city of Kathmandu at Pulchowk in Lalitpur District. It is a major institute of Tribhuvan University. Institute of Engineering has four consituent campuses and many affiliated institutions. Pulchowk Campus is its major campus.
Extracurriculars
Institute of Engineering has shown its participation in international technological festivals like ROBOCON and IIT Tech Fest 2004. IOE has been known all over the nation for its great contribution in the field of Robotics. IOE produces the finest and most talented students of the nation.
Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk was selected as one of the top ten finalist in an International Computer Design Competition (CSIDC) organized by IEEE in 2004. CSIDC is an annual international computer-based system design competition. In 2004, teams were required to design a computer-based system that fits in with the theme 'Making the world a safer place'. The team from IOE designed a system that detects imminent earthquakes and broadcasts warning signals, and also follows up on the status of potential victims through GPS and GIS technology. The final top ten teams were selected from 90 teams from around the world which, in turn, were selected from about 300 international teams. The competition was held on June 26 and June 27 in Washington, D.C., U.S.A.
