The Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln (IW), or 'Cologne Institute for Economic Research', is a leading German economic research institute based in Cologne. It was founded in 1951.
The institute's weekly newsletter, Informationsdienst des Instituts der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln (iwd), carries articles on economics, society, and social policy, as well as analysis and economic data.
Its current director is Dr. Michael Hüther, former Chief Economist for DekaBank.
