The Institut d'études politiques de Lyon is a political science school in Lyon.
It is also called Sciences Po Lyon.
It was created by executive decree by the General de Gaulle in 1948, among several other IEPs in France, all based on the model offered by Sciences Po Paris (IEP of Paris). It is Therefore, as all IEP, considered as a "Grande Ecole"

[edit] Program

Sciences Po Lyon offers a 5 year long programme and delivers a diploma worth "master grade".
The first two years focuse on the fundamental subjects of political sciences that are economics, law, history, philosophy, sociology and management. Students must also learn two foreign languages. They can choose them among English, German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Arab, Italian and Russian. The third year is to be spend abroad, either in the frame of an exchange program in one of IEP de Lyon's 90 partner universities or on a one year long traineeship.
The last two years allow students to specialize in either one of the following specialities :

  • Affaires asiatiques

Life at the IEP is very active with several student clubs such as the BDE (partying...), "Déclic" (photography), "Comequi" (fair trade) or "Bobinophile (cinema). Several small papers have also been created by students such as "La Mâche" (philosophy and poetry), "Po Go" (music and night life) or "L'Ecornifleur" (local news).

[edit] Related groups

Along with the Université Lumière-Lyon 2, the IEP Lyon hosts the CERIEP, a CNRS research unit on politology ([1]).
