Inside Story is Grace Jones's eighth studio album, and her first with the Manhattan Records label. It was also her first time working with producer Nile Rodgers. The album spawned the singles "I'm Not Perfect (But I'm Perfect For You)", one of her most successful, "Victor Should Have Been A Jazz Musician", "Crush", and "Party Girl". The art for this album was designed by Richard Bernstein, who had previously worked with Grace on the albums Muse (1979), Fame (1978), and Portfolio (1977).
