Inquisitor Czevak

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000, Inquisitor Czevak was a member of the Inquisition who was an expert on the Eldar.

[edit] The Eldar and the Black Library

Inquisitor Czevak has written many works on the nature of the Eldar race, though he admits it comes off as paranoid. He wrote profiles on the major craftworlds - Biel-Tan, Iyanden, Saim Hann, Alaitoc and Ulthwé. But he is best known for his discovery of the mythic Black Library, a collection of great power collected by the Eldar and hidden deep within their Webway. Only those pure of heart could be allowed to see the secrets of the Library, and Czevak was judged to be such a being. This immediately made him a powerful enemy: Ahriman of the Thousand Sons, who became obsessed with finding the Library - which would give him power absolute, enough to rival even the Gods of Chaos.

[edit] The Thirteenth Black Crusade

For many years, Czevak eluded Ahriman's attempts to steal the location of the Black Library from his mind. But around the time of Abaddon the Despoiler's Thirteenth Black Crusade, the sorcerer had managed to locate the Inquisitor. Both a transmission from Czevak's former acolyte, Interrogator Ferdan Kieras, and dialogue between Eldrad Ulthran, Farseer of Ulthwé, and the Striking Scorpion Exarch Niadien give reason to believe that Ahriman captured and interrogated Czevak, and managed to at least gain a general idea of the Library's location - somewhere inside the Eldar Webway. Accompanied by his "soulless warriors", the Thousand Sons, Ahriman breached the Webway in an attempt to locate the Black Library, but was repelled by Eldar warriors.

Czevak's fate is unknown; he is believed to be dead.
