inQuire is the University of Kent's Student Union newspaper, originally founded in 1975. The newspaper was originally known as KRED, the letters standing for Keynes, Rutherford, Eliot and Darwin, the University's four colleges. This was supposed to be a temporary name, but ended up staying for 31 years. The newspaper relaunched under its current name in September 2006.
Originally a newspaper in its conception, it became a magazine in 1998. In early 2005, it returned to its newspaper form.
It is funded by the student union. All contributors (writers and editors alike) are students who volunteer for the job.
