From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi. I appreciate your enthusiasm in participating in contributing to the Union City article, but please do not add material if it is redundant. The passages you kept adding on what U.C. "resemblances" contained information that was already covered elsewhere in the article, and was not relevant to the sections in which you place it. (I posted my reasons for this on that article's discussion page).

I now see that you've inserted four more photos to the article. This is far too many, and it also had the effect of pushing the other photos away from the relevant sections (For example, the pic of Brian Stack was moved away from the Government section as a result.) There are already two photos of Bergenline Ave. The article doesn't need two more, nor does it need a generic pic of New York Ave near 37th Street. Photos should be kept to a reasonable number, and be chosen for the prominence of what they depict. Choosing any old "typical" street does not bear the most relevance to the article. I don't know why you insist on focusing on housing, but as a compromise (and since there weren't any pics of residences), I kept the pic showing 41st Street, with the Weehawken Water Tower in the distance, and even wrote a more specific caption describing it.

And in the future, if you and I or anyone else disagree on the merits of our contributions to the article, please let's talk about it on the Discussion Page, okay? Thanks, and have a safe and Happy New Year. (And make sure you bundle up and take an umbrella, since the snow is coming down now! :-) ) Nightscream 20:35, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Hello again. I'm not going to bother admonishing you or pleading with you to stop vandalizing the Union City page, since it's obvious by now that you simply don't care about working with others here, but I have a suggestion for you that you might like: Darkcore and I were talking about the "Now" picture of Bergenline Ave that forms the right half of that "Then and Now" diptych (you know, the one right next to the one from 1900), and he opined that it was poor quality, and he offered to take one of that intersection himself. I conceded to him that yes, it was fairly poor quality because the only one I could find of that intersection was really small, but I was wondering if perhaps you would like to take one yourself. I assume those various pics of Union City that you keep inserting in the artile are your own, right? If so, would you like to take some pics of that intersection, perhaps from various angles (at least one that matches the angle in the current photo), so that we can discuss which one to replace it with? I myself don't have a digital camera, and figured, since you seem so intent on contributing something, anything to the article, that you might like to do this. Let me know on my Talk page, okay? Thanks. Nightscream 20:59, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your response, Inmytown. I've responded on the U.C. Talk page. And welcome to Wikipedia! Nightscream 14:27, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Good photograph. Did you take that one yourself recently, or is it really from 2000 from someone else? Thanks. Nightscream 02:08, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome. I asked about the year because the caption says "circa 2000." You might want to put the correct date in there. :-) Nightscream 15:36, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, the one that's in the article already looks perfectly fine to me, but if you insist, go for it. As for copyright, you have to make sure, when you upload the pic to WP, that you place the proper copyright tag in the Description Summary that indicates that it is yours, and that you are allowing it to be used on WP. For example, if you look at this image, you'll notice I used a tag that allows me to retain some rights, though someone later pointed out to me that under the terms of that tag, I cannot forbid someone from using it outside of WP. Realistically, I would now just use the tag that I used for this image, which my caricature teacher from college allowed me to use on WP for his article, which states that it's been released into the public domain. For more choices, and explanations of the tags, go to Wikipedia: image copyright tags. Nightscream 21:09, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
