User:Informedbanker

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello my name is InformedBanker. I run a website called Informed Banking. Because of the interesting history and content to the site, I thought to include it here at the Wikipedia. Several editors marked my entry for deletion based upon the web notability criteria, which I had overlooked reading. I concurred with their intentions, and have recorded the events on the website itself, which you can read if you go to http://www.informedbanking.com/.

You can read about my page being deleted here:

I wonder if the editors will want to delete this page as well. I guess its not much different than the original page, though perhaps it is not crawled by web spiders. This was the original page:

Informed Banking is an online directory of banks, and features articles on finance, banking, and technology.

It was created in 2001 as a PHPNuke site, yet was hacked so many times by circumventing the PHPNuke content management software and the host upon which is was served, the site was taken down for several years.

The site has been back online now for 6 months and is now funded by online ads and affiliate marketing programs. The site is now run on a managed server, running the Nexista framework and the Text_Wiki wikitext parsing and rendering software. In January 2006, the site was added to the Wikipedia Bank page as an external link, but was subsequently deleted a few weeks later for no apparent reason. Wikipedia tutorials suggest avoiding advertising, so this page attempts to write as neutral a page about the Informed Banking portal as possible.

Even though the page was deleted, I am truly quite pleased I took the initiative to post it. In the process, I've learned more about how wikipedia works, and am more convinced that it is a really good thing. So one of these days I've got to get around to donating some tax decutible duckies to the cause. Once I get out of debt. :-)
