[edit] Introduction

The Pharaoh King Tut was just 9 (Some people are guessing 9-11) years old when he became ruler over Egypt. The young king has made history since, with his ruling age, with his amazing finds in his tomb, and with archeologist Howard Carders amazing discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamen in the Valley of the Kings. Explore the ancient world of Egypt as you proceed reading the following paragraphs.

[edit] Conspiracies of King Tut’s Death

Ruler Tutankhamen died at an early age of 18 (some also say 20). Even though the life expectancy back then was not as much as it was today, it was unclear why he died at such an early age. When x-rays were taken of the ruler’s body archeologists found several fractures to the head. Did boy king Tut die from a disease or was it murder? Many guesses are that the pharaoh’s advisor, Ay, who was also his grandfather, had killed him. But there are other guesses that Horemheb, a military commander, or Ankhesanamum, King Tut’s wife, had killed the young man. Till this day it is still unclear who was the killer, or if there was even a killer. But as said before, the most common saying of who killed King Tutankhamen was Ay. Ay thought that it was a big mistake to put such a little boy at a young age into the ruler of Egypt. So, it is believed that Ay had killed the ruler in the middle of the night and then became Pharaoh of Egypt. Not only did Ay become Pharaoh of Egypt, but he also got King Tut’s original Tomb and king Tut got Ay’s tomb!

[edit] Howard Carters Amazing Discovery

King Tut’s tomb was the only tomb to stay completely intact. In other words, all of the other tombs of previous Pharaohs had been looted by thieves except for King Tut’s. After finally entering the tomb of Tutankhamen, following years (4 to be exact) of tedious exploration, Lord Carnarvon, the financial supporter for the excavation, asks, “Do you see anything?” Howard Carter replies, “Yes. Wonderful things,” a statement that has made history. Once Howard Carder and his crew entered the tomb of Tutankhamen, they found magnificent items. Explore King Tutankhamen’s tomb in the following paragraph.

[edit] “Wonderful Things”

When Howard Carter said his famous line “Yes. Wonderful things,” he wasn’t joking! As the crew entered the tomb, they found numerous dazzling, objects like boomerangs, trumpets, ostrich feather fans, earrings, necklaces, a chunk of his grandmother’s hair, and close to 100 pair of shoes, and chariots. The two most astounding pieces were a solid gold mask, and a coffin made of gold.
