[edit] Wikipedia disclaimer

Wikipedia attracts nutheads. A detailed analyis is over at User:Nikodemos/Asymmetric_controversy, partly written by myself. Once you have read that, here is a list of topics I (and others) have come across where there is a large number (or possibly large number of sockpuppets) of fanatical POV-pushers who try (sometimes 24/7) to edit said topics to say what they want, instead of representing a neutral view.

Any content on these articles is not to be trusted. Do your research elsewhere, eg. at a bookstore.

Such fanatical POV-pushers tend to do the following things:

  • Spam sources promoting one point of view, citing WP:CITE as the official policy, to pass off that view as normal/mainstream/widely held/legitimate.
  • Write purely promoting one point of view, leaving other editors to clean up the mess and NPOV the article.
  • Write bloated content, with details about a point of view which is completely irrelevant for an encyclopedia such as this, to "gain space" over other points of view.

Policies/guidelines which these POV-pushes ignore and would do well to at least understand:

[edit] Views

Here are my views so you can accuse me of being biased in favour of them. (I am not a Marxist, anarchist, socialist, whatever. I am me. Get used to it. ;p )

  • Philosophy
    • Truth exists, but we shall never know it, since the brain is smaller than truth.
    • Anti-religious - Books written by humans.
    • Anti-human rights, anti-absolute morality - Arbitrary, morality is subjective, absoluteness is authoritative and unnegotiable.
      • Anti-private property - Absolute and authoritative. Sure, people should have possessions, and other people should respect that and not mess with their possessions, but there are situations where this is overridden by more important things, eg. to save lives.
    • Pro-abortion - Up to the woman, since unconscious fetus doesn't "want to live" because it has no desires.
    • Pro-euthanasia - Each case is different but the general principle isn't wrong, since either (the person wants to die), or (the person has no wants and is likely to remain in this state, and resources used to keep him alive can be better used on others).
  • Society
    • Anti-competition - Cells in your body cooperate to make you survive. People in a company cooperate to outcompete others.
    • Anti-social hierarchy - No human should be controlled, directly or subtly.
      • Anti-government - All people born in an arbitrary piece of land are unavoidably born into control.
      • Anti-capitalist - Private means of production leads to a socioeconomic hierarchy in which the top controls the bottom. Wage labour is theft.
      • Anti-money - Money tries to be a standard of value. Value is subjective. Money fails in its purpose, and creates distortions in human perceptions on value, which are exploited by some.
    • Anti-patriotism, anti-nationalist - Based upon geographical location. You are not "your people".

In place of the old bourgeois society, with its classes and class antagonisms, we shall have an association in which the free development of each is the condition for the free development of all. - Karl Marx, Communist Manifesto

(Please don't extrapolate anything about my views beyond this quote. I agree with the idea in this quote only. I may or may not agree with anything else Marx said.)

[edit] Wikipedia

I mostly edit articles on politics (arguments about capitalism) and philosophy (arguments about god).

[edit] Articles I started

  • Wage labour - Yes, I started this article, unbelievably. Such an important concept in anti-capitalist theory was left out of wikipedia for 5 years. Bah. And I'm not even an expert on this subject.
  • An Anarchist FAQ - started this article mainly so that a vital source for many anarchists has a base on wikipedia.
  • Template:Marxist theory - linking all the Marxist theory articles together.
