[edit] Image map

Please check this discussion and comment. - Ganeshk (talk) 16:26, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Header colours

  1. The colours used for capital and metros are too far apart. Since metros can be considered to be a subset of capital cities, I suggest that the header colour be moved to one as close as possible to the capital colour.
  2. Request new fields for the metro infobox:
    1. City-area
    2. City-population
    3. City-density
    4. Metro-area
    5. Metro-population
    6. Metro-density

[edit] Locator map

The locator map isn't aligned at the center as you can see in Ettayapuram. I don't have the patience to go through the esoteric template code. Can someone fix it? -- Sundar \talk \contribs 07:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I am still a little confused

Hi Ganesh,

Can we please improve the naming of these templates to make it more intuitive. What I mean is, we should just have templates called

  • {{IndiaStateInfobox}}
  • {{IndiaDistrictInfobox}}
  • {{IndiaTalukInfobox}}
  • {{IndiaCityInfobox}}
  • {{IndiaTownInfobox}}
  • {{IndiaVillageInfobox}} -->this one may not be needed.

Also, I believe in the District and Taluk infoboxes, we should have the concerned state map with the district or taluk marked on it instead of the India map. Or maybe we can have a small India map and the state map blown up from it(Hope you get the idea).

As of now, India jurisdiction infobox, is not named very intuitively. I tried working on these infoboxes today.... I was trying to move some fields from that KAR infobox into this but looks like you've already redirected it here. I dont know if I am missing something. Sarvagnya 16:41, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

  • There is no need for a seperate templates like you have listed above. All of them are handled with a single box with a parameter called "type". State infobox alone is seperate, use {{India state infobox}}. Having a single template really helps with maintenance. Features can be added to the box that can affect all types of articles.
  • The reason the locator map is used is consistency across Indian geographical articles. Also for the reader, it first identifies where the subject is located with respect to India. Please think about global audience here (not Indians alone). District maps like you refer to can be added in a section of the article, "Administration" would be the best fit.
  • The name of the box does not matter. It is not visible to the reader, it is just a vehicle to produce a box of meaningful information.
  • All the fields in the KAR has been moved here. If you still have doubts, you can copy to the source of the KAR box (pull it from history) into your sandbox and test it.
Hope that explains. -- Ganeshk (talk) 22:23, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Requests

Request for following features:

  1. Header coordinates. It seems to be present, but it does not appear on the top of the page
  2. parameters to enter the city+metropolitan area & population

Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 11:51, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Both done. Let us know if there are still issues. Thanks. Saravask 19:36, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! Could the parameters in the above example also be updated? =Nichalp «Talk»= 17:23, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Now it's updated. I put the metro area in parentheses "(metro)" after the city area. If this won't work, we can try some other layout for it. Thanks. Saravask 19:13, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Locator dot is invisible

I can't see the locator dot on the map (although when I mouse over the location it points to the image page). --Schzmo 23:30, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Could you upload a screenshot or something? I can see it in Firefox and IE. It might be browser issues. Thanks. Saravask 23:53, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I could not see it too. Changed it to Red pog for now until we figure out what is causing the problem. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 00:21, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Postal code bug

If you leave the postal code parameter blank, then the entire "Codes" section is not displayed (even if you provide telephone and/or vehicle parameters). --Schzmo 17:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Few doubts

  1. What is the purpose of the paramter "taluk_names"? If it is for the name of the taluk, i suppose it should be "taluk_name". Also the displayed name should be "Taluk". A better name would be "sub district". Sub distrct names like Taluk, Tehsil etc differ from state to state. Please see Nomenclature and Number of Sub-Districts in States/UTs.
  2. How to use the "type" field? I filled in "village" as a type in this page, but it doesn't seem to have any impact. --(Sumanth|Talk) 08:34, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Changes required

I've noticed that "population" and "area" fields are displayed even if they are not filled (see this example). I tried correcting this but was not successful. Can someone please correct this? --(Sumanth|Talk) 12:05, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

I think these are compulsory elements. =Nichalp «Talk»= 06:09, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Just add a empty parameter like this. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 06:19, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
