Usage
Just copy and paste this to the top of a Disney attraction article and fill it out. All resort entries are optional, but when you use one you must enter a date as well. Check this page for an example.
{{Infobox Disney attraction |Attraction= |Logo= |1964 New York World's Fair Pavilion= |1964 New York World's Fair Date= |Disneyland Resort Park= |Disneyland Resort Date= |Walt Disney World Resort Park= |Walt Disney World Resort Date= |Tokyo Disney Resort Park= |Tokyo Disney Resort Date= |Disneyland Resort Paris Park= |Disneyland Resort Paris Date= |Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Park= |Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Date= }} |
To create entry with multiple parks or dates:
[[Magic Kingdom]]
[[Epcot]]
October 1, 1971
October 1, 1982
Output:
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
October 1, 1971
October 1, 1982
The infobox that WikiProject Disneyland uses was expanded and modified to create this one. The "programming" was put together thanks to various infoboxes on Wikipedia by blm07 18:49, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Poll
I've been on Wikipedia for a while, and noticed that Disney articles infoboxes could be improved, so I've come up with this template. It won't be used for films that already use a movie template. Here are some questions:
- 1. Should this be used as the official template on all Disney rides and shows?
- 2. Does sponsorship information need to be included?
- 3. Does any other information need to be included?
- 4. Does closing date need to be included?
- 5. If opening and closing dates are to be used, should the year be used only?
If you can put more information into the infobox without over bloating it, then explain.
My thoughts
I've thought about (and tried) to shove more information into the box, but I think it should only be for the basics.
- 1. It looks good to me, I'll replace the old "Disney show" infoboxes with this one.
- 2, 3, & 4. I don't think so, because it will make the box longer and the information is already in the "Attraction facts" section of the article. --blm07 20:33, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Your thoughts
I like the box but i think the closing date would be really nice to have on there --Napnet 23:20, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
I much prefer this box to the previous one. I like the closing date. I don't mind summarizing information from the Attraction facts and putting it at the top of the article. I would also add an attraction type (e.g., dark ride, roller coaster, 3-d film) to it. Disneyfile 19:51, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- I would prefer not to put the type of ride in, it is often NPOV Date of closure is fine. DisneyFreak96 03:16, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- How so? Like, the last day a ride/show operates, versus when the Disney company finally officially says it is gone? (I'd think the last official day of operation would be the intended date.) --Allen Huffman
- I think the specific park, the land and the type or ride are critical. I think duration, max height, longest drop, number of riders per car, etc. are nice to haves. 66.151.81.244 18:52, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- and what about height restrictions, fast pass, expectant mothers, etc? Bytebear 20:25, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

- Fast Pass might be a good idea since it is small enough not to make a mess, but I don't think restrictions etc arn't that important for a infobox, it belongs in the attraction facts section. --blm07 20:36, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

- Ok, I've tried to add closing dates and options. Check this User:Blm07/Template test and tell me what you all think. --blm07 23:18, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Final new version
Here is my near final (only tweaks after this) proposal for a new template: Template:Disney attraction infobox. Park, Opening date, Options, Sponsor, and Status are included, not to mention a few hidden options to make it very flexible. The resort header is gone and the Disney park variables are gone, that is so they can be put in order of opening. After the transition, I know a bunch of articles will have screwed up infoboxes, but I'll fix them up. --blm07 03:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
