[edit] Qif vs hiddenStructure

Let's face it; both of these are ugly kludges. But to achieve the optional parameters that I wanted in this infobox, one of them had to be used.

At first, I chose to used the hiddenStructure CSS hack when I redesigned the infobox, mainly because it was the recommended solution and also because of WP:AUM. But after thinking about the problems it would cause with the underlying HTML, I figured that there had to be a better solution. That was when I decided to look into qif. Even though it is a meta-template and WP:AUM advices editors to avoid them, there really is no other clean solution to deal with my problems regarding the underlying HTML.

With all of that in mind, Qif will probably be just a temporary solution until the same functionality is included directly into MediaWiki.--TheFarix 15:20, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

P.S. Now with the use of Qif, it should be safe to use wikilinks in the events parameter. But I still recommend against them for esthetic reasons.--TheFarix

[edit] General convention template?

There is nothing in this template that is specific to anime conventions. Shouldn't this be made into a generic convention template? I could apply this template to BoundCon, for example, and no one would notice anything wrong. JIP | Talk 07:28, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

For now, just create a redirect to this template. Or you can create a new template based on this with a few additional fields. --TheFarix (Talk) 11:36, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] list of events?

I think having a section like this is too vague. Many cons have similar events, and listing them in deadpan doesn't give a reader the idea of the flavor of convention taking place.

I suggest instead changing it to something like "focus events" or "distinguishing features" where one could place the events that actually characterise the convention or are even unique to it. Some cons focus on costumes, some on guests, some on music or amvs, whatever.RCHM 01:23, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I went ahead and updated the template

Hopefully you guys will like the face-lift that I gave it. It seems to somewhat match the one used for anime/manga series. :: Colin Keigher (Talk) 09:05, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
