[edit] Pattern

ive noticed a definite pattern in the 4th generation 2nd stage starters. this is that they all are based on entities from legend or religeon. this is: Torterra = Genbu, Infernape = Sun Wukong or Hindu god mentioned on page, and Empoleon = Posiden. i believe this should be mentioned in each Pokemon's article.

[edit] Gouakzuru's english name (sorry if thats not how its spelled)

i am not completly positive about this but i think his name will end in char maybe something like flamechar or burnchar. I am not making this up if you look at chimchar japanese name itends with zuru and so dose this guys —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.170.224.194 (talk) 11:53, 4 March 2007 (UTC).

Actually, the zaru in its name is the word saru, which means "monkey". Anyway, extrapolating similarities like that is considered speculation, which is not allowed on Wikipedia (see also Leafia, Glacia, Booburn).—M_C_Y_1008 (talk/contribs) 16:31, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Infernape's its name. First reported at serebii, and here's proof. http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/n07_0319_dpcard005lg.jpg Feats-O-Strength 00:06, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
That's from another fan site and could very well have been photoshopped. Please link to the page the image appears on, rather than just the image, so I can tell where they're supposedly getting this card from. -JC 10:27, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, there are MANY great fake card makers out there. Official website is needed. I shouldn't have removed my last comment. TheBlazikenMaster 10:52, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
'Kay, makes sense. Don't just accept my changes if you have an objection, though, in the future. —M_C_Y_1008 (talk/contribs) 11:06, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] English name confirmed as Infernape

look here http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/n07_0319_dpcard005lg.jpg it also confirms Monferno --DSDark 00:44, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm afraid better proof is needed. There are experts out there making fake cards. This can be fake, even if it isn't, better proof is needed. TheBlazikenMaster 08:39, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
http://pokebeach.com/ says that it came out of a press release Zaver 19:31, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
It looks good enough to me. But we need other people's opinion of it first. It's no coinicdence that two sites have the same card. The proof looks good enough to me, but we have to hear it from other people as well. TheBlazikenMaster 19:35, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I've been looking for the Press Release at http://www.op.pokemon-tcg.com but can't seem to find it. There is a press release at http://www.pokemon-tcg.com/p_news/archives/news_1452.jsp but no pics. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zaver (talkcontribs) 19:44, 20 March 2007 (UTC).
That is indeed official site, but if the English name can't be found, I'm afraid it's not good enough. TheBlazikenMaster 19:49, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Found the press site http://www.pokemon-tcg.com/press/login.jsp but since I'm not a member of the press, I can't get in. Zaver 20:16, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I believe the Diamond and Pearl game will both come out this summer, when that happens, then we can all agree on what the English name is. I don't make the rules, I really do agree that what more than one fansites says is good enough. But that's still not good enough, I would find that good enough if I made the rules, but I don't. Hopefully we will be able to find for sure a good proof that's good enough. TheBlazikenMaster 20:24, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
If there is a official press, that should be enough--71.192.119.17 21:26, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Problem is, 71, we need to verify that's what the press release says. The press release could very well be on something unrelated, such as news that Pokemon will have two Abilities at once (rather than one) (NOTE: I am using this as devil's-advocacy). -Jeske (v^_^v) 21:28, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
But the press release is about the TCG DP —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.192.119.17 (talk) 21:59, 20 March 2007 (UTC).
True, but we need to know WHERE exactly on the website it can be found. Official website isn't enough, you also have to give exact link or tell how to get to that page. (if the page would redirect to the mainpage anyway) That's what's needed. TheBlazikenMaster 22:05, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Look at Zaver's post up there, there's a link to the press release but no pics--71.192.119.17 22:06, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
But we need a member OF THE PRESS to see it, hm? -Jeske (v^_^v) 22:11, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I meant Zaver's before--71.192.119.17 22:19, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I'm referring to the press release (Zaver said he couldn't get to it because he wan't a member of the press). The link means nothing; the press release, at this point, does. -Jeske (v^_^v) 22:22, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Why is an official TCG card not enough to move it to its English which is Infernape, its like you guys try to find every little thing to not move it, why?--DSDark 23:11, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Because the card is only visible on a fansite, which could very well have created it as a mockup. If it's on the official site or the official press release, then the name is settled. But until then, it's a bit too soon to change it. Just have some patience - it'll be at the right name eventually, after all. -JC 00:17, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

It's on a fansite making claims corroborated by Nintendo. (Note that many fansites are reporting the same thing, often verbatim, citing it to Nintendo.) This is as good as sourcing here gets, unfortunately. I'm going to go ahead and move this. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 03:12, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] We interrupt your bickering for this special news bulletin...

AMIB says they're acceptable, as the sites with them are all saying they got them from Pokemon USA. -Jeske (v^_^v) 03:39, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Right. It's corroborated. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 03:40, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Yep, looks good enough to me. It's highly unlikely a fansite would copy other fansites. And PokéBeach has that card on their site, and they haven't put any fake card in past years. TheBlazikenMaster 10:14, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
