Information Systems Research (ISR) is an academic journal that publishes original peer-reviewed research articles in the areas of Information Systems and Information Technology. Along with Management Information Systems Quarterly, ISR is widely regarded by IS/IT researchers as one of the two most prestigious journals in the information systems discipline.[citation needed] ISR is published by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), and was recently selected as one of the top 12 professional /academic journals by BusinessWeek. The current editor-in-chief of Information Systems Research is Vallabh Sambamurthy.

ISR describes itself as:

"...a leading international journal of theory, research, and intellectual development, focused on information systems in organizations, institutions, the economy, and society." [1]

Information Systems Research was first published in 1990.
