Infected is a monthly podcast hosted by Martin Sargent. The podcast is produced by Revision3, an internet multimedia distribution company founded by Jay Adelson and Kevin Rose. Sargent created the podcast as a spiritual successor to Unscrewed, the late night TV show he hosted on TechTV and later G4TechTV. The first episode was aired on November 11, 2005, exactly one year after the cancellation of Unscrewed.

The podcast is hosted by Sargent alongside co-host "The Gator" (played by co-writer Jay Speiden), a "drifter-type" from Florida Sargent ostensibly met at a Los Angeles bar, and former Unscrewed production assistant Joseph Rabier, a.k.a. "Joey the Intern." Regular guests include Hollywood reporter Johnny O'Banion, performed by co-writer Stewart Engesser, and martial-arts master Rickey Kang, also played by Speiden. O'Banion and Kang were recurring characters on Unscrewed as well. While both characters appear as call-in interview guests, they also appear in themed segments. "View from the Canyon with Johnny O'Banion" is a fictitious account of celebrity gossip hosted by O'Banion, while "On the Stick with Rickey Kang" features Kang appearing at a random location to assault people with a kendo stick. Engesser, who also writes and produces Revision3's Mysteries of Science Explained podcast (which began as an Unscrewed segment), writes and produces "View from the Canyon" as well as the "Lights, Camera, Orlando" interview segment, in which Engesser impersonates actor Orlando Bloom.

The podcast is produced in the format of a roundtable discussion between Sargent and the Gator with Rabier offering infrequent commentary. The show is peppered with parodied commercials for real-life products and businesses, sometimes narrated by cast impressions of celebrities. Each episode is structured around a specific theme and involves Sargent and the Gator's discussion of the topic, inserted with phone interviews or quizzes moderated by Sargent. Any number of the above scripted segments are also inserted, as well as a news report referred to as a check of the "High Tech Tech News Ticker." The podcast customarily ends with Sargent being pressured into telling a bizarre bedtime-style story by Joey and the Gator. Sargent's usual farewell to the audience was the same as that on Unscrewed ("We'll see you at the bar"), but following an incident in which Sargent was swept out to sea during a trip to the beach, the sign-off has been preceded with "Don't get ripped by the riptide" with a hand-clap inserted after the word "ripped."

Martin also likes giving drawing assignments to the podcast's fanbase, which he refers to as the "Infected Army," reminiscent of "User Created" off of TechTV's the Screen Savers and later Attack Of The Show. Entries from the assignments are customarily posted on Sargent's website.
