Roman Catholic Infant Baptism in the United States

This photograph demonstrates a method of infant baptism whereby the child is held over a baptismal font and a priest or deacon pours Holy Water onto the child's head while pronouncing the words, "I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

This picture was taken at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Spotsylvania County, Virginia on May 1, 2004 with a Sony Cybershot digital camera.
