Template talk:Ine

[edit] Usage

{{ine | function | 1 | 2 | 3 }}

  • function: Template to pass the rest of the parameters to
  • 1, 2, 3: Optional parameters for function

If the first parameter is Not Empty then do the task given by the first parameter with the second, third and fourth parameter as its parameters, else do nothing; if the number of parameters of the task is 0, 1, or 2, ignore the superfluous values.[1]

[edit] Ine_g: Generalized Version?

I like this simple template, but could really use a generalized version:

{{ine | function | 1 | 2 | 3 }}

  • function: Template to pass the rest of the parameters to
  • 1: Test parameter
  • 2, 3: Optional parameters for function
If the second parameter (1) is Not Empty then do the task given by the first parameter with the second, third and fourth parameters as its parameters, else do nothing; if the number of parameters of the task is 0, 1, or 2, ignore the superfluous values.

Can this be built? Is there an easy way to do what I'm trying to do with existing templates? It would come in very handy with building Infoboxes, specifically for the task "if an image name is specified, call the image-formatting function, otherwise just omit it."

I note that this template — {{Ine}} — is not in use on any current pages, and I wonder if it's too new to have been used, too difficult to use, or not built in a way that's helpful. Any help, feedback, or commentary is welcome. Thanks, —Papayoung 20:16, 30 September 2005 (UTC)

Perhaps because it's often easier to use call directly. Shinobu 09:30, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
