InetSoft Style Report

InetSoft is a New Jersey based business intelligence software company that has produced Java based reporting software since 1996. Style Report is the core product of InetSoft. InetSoft's product are based on open standards technology that include XML, SOAP, Java, JavaScript and LDAP. The stated design goal for easy integration with other open standards based software.
There are various editions of Style Report ranging from developer tools to enterprise reporting servers.
Style Report Pro is the developer tool edition that can be used as a report generation engine for both desktop Java applications and Java web applications. The visual report designer allows report template creation without Java coding while the Java API allows runtime manipulation of the report templates if necessary. Style Report employes a layout and formatting model that are different from traditional "banded" reporting tools such as Crystal Report. The top level layout is a HTML page like grid where each cell contains report elements that can be bands(fixed positioned field group that repeats in bands), self adjusting tables(similar to MS Word tables) , charts and other elements. The embedded report scripting engine is the Mozilla Rhino engine that provides full programming interface.
Style Report Enterprise Edition(EE) is based on the same reporting engine. Multi-threaded report generation with caching technology enable enterprise level performance. Built-in interactivity includes drilldown links, parameters and report explorer that allows end users search, sort and filter within a report. Ad hoc report component of Style Report EE is a flash based web application that end users can use to modify existing report or create new reports.
Styel Report Analytic Edition(AE) is a superset of Style Report EE that adds OLAP analysis, dashboard and alert functions. The OLAP feature can be used against an multi-dimensional database or a Style Report OLAP overlay on top of a regular relational database. Dashboard is Java JSR-168 based therefore can be dropped into a portel server by a Java application server vendor.
