Richard Lee is a busy artist/web designer/husband in Knoxville, Tennessee He knew from an early age that he would find his work in the visual arts field. Not only did he excel in his art classes, he subsequently found his math classes less than pleasant experiences, virtually ensuring his complete avoidance of the engineering fields he came dangerously close to pursuing due to his interest in the natural sciences.
Submitting his portfolio to several colleges, he chose to attend the Columbus College of Art and Design in Ohio, where he received a nice portfolio-based scholarship. After foundation year he chose to pursue a degree in Illustration, with a minor in Advertising Design.
After graduation he returned to Knoxville, Tennessee and began searching for a job. After two weeks he was fortunate in finding a position with Automark (Reynolds & Reynolds) as a multimedia designer. There he designed multimedia Director applications, learned quite a bit about quite a few things not taught in art school, and eventually followed the company when it moved from the Tennessee location to Virginia Beach, Virginia.
In Virginia his focus shifted to Internet design and development, and he learned to apply my design background to the technologies that were becoming indespensible. HTML, Javascript, ASP, ColdFusion, and Flash were all very exciting and quite fun to learn and employ.
Now he designs and develops for companies around Knoxville, and cranks out new pastel paintings as often as he can, for display in great galleries around Knoxville like Three Flights Up gallery.
