[edit] Evaluating the actual contribution of the suggested actions

Suggested actions should better take into consideration the involved parts that contribute to global warming. Contributing factors, or those that were thought of, need to be mentioned with each action.

Controversies/alternative points of view on some suggestions:

-Moving house to reduce the need for heatings isn't energy efficient, but appropriate insulation should be considered instead.

-Investing in private home entertainment systems instead of a collective form will in general consume more energy. The privately owned entertainment systems or the media also need to be transported to the owners home instead of one central location - not just the other way around. Energy spent producing the equipment and entertainment can be expected to be substantial and somewhat associated with the existence of a large private entertainment market.

-New electronics are likely to involve energy wasting component manufacturing methods at some stage. The total contribution may be difficult to estimate, and to a certain degree, manufacturer provided estimates can be expected not to be realistic. Recycling electronics is labour intensive and therefore often done in areas of cheap labour, where there is no control of energy expended.

How could this article, written as it is, mostly in imperative sentences, be considered encyclopedic. If there's going to be an article on Individual action against global warming, then it should exist to describe what individuals are doing against global warming (with citations), not tell the reader what to do. - Nat Krause^(Talk!) 04:15, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
