Indo-Tibetan Border Police

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police is a paramilitary force conceived on October 24, 1962 for the security along the Indo-Tibetan Border covering 2115 km.

Among other duties, the ITBP has been trained to play a part in dealing with nuclear, biological and chemical disasters. ITBP personnel are also deployed abroad to UN peacekeeping missions in Bosnia and elsewhere.
