Founder Bernie Whitebear and other Native Americans invaded the land which was originally Indian land to start. It was made to improve the spiritual, social, economic, educational and cultural conditions of Native Americans. Formed in 1970 it established an urban base for Native Americans in the Seattle area. It provides social and educational services to more than 25,000 Native Americans. It helps children, families for housing, homeless and the elderly. Located at Daybreak Star Cultural Center in Seattleā€™s Discovery Park. They are able to assist 5,000 community members on the regular. It has a 4,000,000 dollar annual budget in which they own three facilities which employs over a hundred people. The main purpose is to increase awareness of Native Heritage and renewing ethnic identity and pride of all native people.
