Indiana Transportation Museum

The Indiana Transportation Museum is located in Forest Park, Noblesville, Indiana. The museum is a volunteer run, non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve Indiana's railroad history, educate the public in the history of the railroad, and provide the experience of railroad travel as it used to be. The tracks were once used by the Indianapolis and Peru Railroad Company, and more recently, the Nickel Plate Road.

About Us The Indiana Transportation Museum is a volunteer run, non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve Indiana's railroad history, educate the public in the history of the railroad, and provide our visitors with an opportunity to experience railroad travel as it used to be. We operate on 38 miles of track once known as the Indianapolis & Peru, and more recently, as the Nickel Plate Road. Read about the History of our line.

Location Our Museum and restoration facilities are located in Noblesville, Indiana, only 20 miles north of downtown Indianapolis. The Museum is located in Forest Park which is less than 1 mile north of State Route 32 on State Route 19, North and West of downtown Noblesville. Events Our Event Calendar is full of exciting railroad events. The Atlanta Express runs on our main line, from Hobbs Station located at the Museum to Atlanta, Indiana which is located eleven scenic miles north of Noblesville, on Saturdays and Sundays (except during Fairtrain in August). Our dinner train, the Hamiltonian, whisks riders from Fishers Station to 1 of 2 restaurants in Atlanta or Cicero on alternate Friday evenings. Our premier event, FAIRTRAIN, transports riders to the Indiana State Fair with 10 round trips each day of the Fair. See our Event Calendar for a complete listing.

School Programs The Museum also offers a School Program entitled Railroads In The Midwest that features a pre-visit classroom workbook, tour of the Museum grounds, and if desired, a ride on our train. View the available School Programs.

Membership Membership in our Museum includes copies of our newsletter and other discounts. There are several levels of membership. The Museum is a non-profit organization, consequently memberships and donations may be tax deductible.
