Indiana State Road 39

State Road 39 in the U.S. State of Indiana is the name of two distinct north-south highways in the state of Indiana. The northern route of the two starts at the Michigan border near Interstate 94 and ends at Indiana 37 in Martinsville. The road runs south, passing through the following towns:
- Springville (intersects US 20)
- LaPorte (multiplex with US 35 and State Road 2)
- North Judson (multiplex with State Road 10)
- Buffalo (multiplex with State Road 16)
- Monticello (multiplex with US 421. Remains multiplexd through Delphi, Rossville and Frankfort)
- Lebanon (interchange with I-65 Exit 139)
- Lizton (interchange with I-74)
- Danville (intersects US 36)
- Monrovia (intersects State Road 42)
In the 1960s, Indiana 39 was the connector between the west end of Interstate 94 (which ended just north of the Michigan-Indiana border) and the Indiana Toll Road. Hence, a dozen miles of this winding 2-lane road carried all of the heavy traffic between Chicago and Detroit.
Located in south-central Indiana, the shorter Indiana 39 links Indiana 250 near Brownstown with Little York (Washington County) before terminating at Indiana 56.
