The Indiana Daily Student, or IDS for short, is an independent, student-run newspaper serving Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, USA. Founded in 1867, the IDS is published Monday through Friday and has a circulation of 15,000 to 16,000 during the school year and is published on Monday and Thursday with a circulation of 8,500 over the summer. The IDS employs around 200 students as well as 11 professional staff who assist with the publication of the paper. Since 1969, the IDS has been financially independent of Indiana University and is today entirely funded by advertising revenue. Drawing many of its student employees from Indiana University's School of Journalism, the Indiana Daily Student has garnered numerous awards, including the Pacemaker Award.
