The Indian cricket team in Sri Lanka in 2001 played 4 first-class matches including 3 Tests. They also took part in a limited overs tri-series with Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
Sri lanka won the Test series against India by 2-1 :
- 1st Test (Galle International Stadium) – Sri Lanka won by 10 wickets
- 2nd Test (Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy) – India won by 7 wickets
- 3rd Test (Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Colombo) – Sri Lanka won by an innings and 77 runs
