As imagined, this subcategory could be an index of South Asia's distinctive vegetables, listed by common name (in English) and also under the term(s!) used in different parts of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka. Does this seem like a handy idea to anyone? Krnntp 21:56, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Rethinking this idea, perhaps it should stay with English and Hindi/Urdu, and maybe Bangla and/ or Sinhala (for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka), since there are so many languages within India besides the official national languages (Hindi, English) that this category could become hopelessly cluttered with synonyms. As an alternative, the article "Multilingual list of Indian Vegetables" can help people cross reference vegetables in the full complement of languages used on the subcontinent (at least 24).
