Inazawa, Aichi

Inazawa (稲沢市; -shi) is a city located in Aichi, Japan. The city was founded on November 1, 1958.
As of April 1, 2006 the city has an estimated population of 137,890 and the density of 1739 persons per km². The total area is 79.30 km².

On April 1, 2005 the towns of Heiwa and Sobue merged into the city of Inazawa. Before the merger, 2003, Inazawa had an estimated population of 101,031 and the density of 2,090 persons per km². The former area of Inazawa was 48.35 km².

- 7th century: The ancient provincial capital and provincial temple of Owari were built.
- 17th century: Two villages formed an area of post town on the road (Kaidō) connecting Miya (Atsuta) on Tōkaidō to Tarui,Mino Province on Nakasendō.
- On November 1, 1958, the town of Inazawa became the city.
