Inawashiro, Fukushima

Inawashiro (猪苗代町; -machi) is a town located in Yama District, Fukushima, Japan. Inawashiro rests on the shores of Inawashiro Lake, one of the largest lakes in Japan. It is also the birthplace of the famous doctor, Hideyo Noguchi who contributed to knowledge in the fight against syphilis and yellow fever.
As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 17,319 and a density of 43.85 persons per km². The total area is 395.00 km².
