In The City was the debut album of British Punk band The Jam. It was released in 1977 (see 1977 in music) by Polydor Records and featured the hit single and title track "In The City". It is clear to see the Pete Townshend/Who influence on this record - due to some of the Motown covers and the early tri-chordal songs on this album, such as Art School - which some critics at the time dismissed as they saw Weller as trying to be a revivalist of the Mod era.
