"In The Rough" is a 2005 single from singer-songwriter Anna Nalick. The single how ever didn't make as big of an impact as her first Breathe (2 AM) did.

[edit] Performances

On January 19, 2006, Anna Nalick performed on the David Letterman show with this track. She also performed the single (along with Breathe (2 AM)) on the Carson Daly Show on February 3, 2006.

[edit] Music Video

Anna Nalick's second music video for her Wreck of the Day album achieved some video play on VH1 and Canada's Much More Music, though not as much as the Breathe (2 AM) video. The video was released in late 2005.

The video was shot in the first week of October 2005. Directed by Matt McDermitt and produced by Gina Leonard with executive producer Joseph Kahn and Jamie Kohn. Set Designer: David Courtemarche. Stylist: Marjan Malakpour. The video was shot in a L.A mansion.

Actually, I was really impressed by the work of a lot of the people on the shoot. The set designer, David Courtemarche, was a genius! And the hair, make-up, and stylist crew made magic out of a tired Nalick at 6 in the morning and a dress that the stylist, Marjan Malakpour actually remade the night before and sewed me into so it would fit me like a glove - - Looking back on the whole thing, I realize yet again how extremely lucky I am to be able to experience stuff like this. It was fun and very interesting and despite some minor discomforts, I felt pretty.

This video, unlike Breathe (2 AM) follows a story. Anna plays a young woman in an abusive relationship. The video follows her suffering and wanting to leave. Through out the video an alternate personality of Anna watches the events going on, while singing to the track.

With a various backgrounds of fire and water, alternate Anna watches as the abused Anna tries to break up with her abusive boyfriend causing him to burst out and charging her. Alternate Anna sympathetically watches, almost in tears as abused Anna finally leaves, running out of the mansion - barefoot in the mud to her car.

Both Anna's sing as the music video comes to an end and Anna drives away into the city.

Alternate wears a stunning silk dress as she sings alone, the elements changing behind her. Starting with wind/leaves, to rain and ending with a burst of fire (passion) as the video comes to its conclusion.

Unlike her first video, this one allows Anna to show off her acting skills while playing the part of the girlfriend.
