"In Purgatory's Shadow" is an episode of the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the fourteenth episode of the fifth season. The first half of a two-part episode, it is most notable as the point where the Dominion began its invasion of the Alpha Quadrant. It features the return of several familiar faces, drawing on plot lines from the third-season "Improbable Cause" and "The Die is Cast", the fourth season, and fifth-season opener "Apocalypse Rising".

Worf and Garak journey to the Gamma Quadrant to investigate a coded Cardassian message. They discover the real General Martok, who had been previously replaced by the Dominion. It is also revealed that another shapeshifter has infiltrated Deep Space Nine.
