I have:
- An overall page of general guidelines
- A list that defines different types of articles on differt subjects

- For Armies "Army Page"
- For Technology "Technology Page" (equivalent to "Weapons, Vehicles, Equipment Page", or, "WVE page")
- For Notable Planets "Notable Planet Page"
- (User:Pak21 already made guidelones for notable characters, but a link to that is included)
- A statement of purpose for my guidelines
- Left room for more guidelines to come

[edit] Adeptus Arbites merger
I was thinking of adding the Arbites to this article lately, only to find an article already existed. The existing one is quite short, however, and would apparently fit nicely into the other pieces on the Imperium's government. Just thought I'd see if everyone agrees to a merge.
In preparation for a potential merge, I'd also like to ask around about a discrepancy I'm seeing on the subject. For example, this says that "The role of everyday control and policing usually falls to local security forces, working under the orders of the Imperial Commander and his staff.", and spends much of it's time on the Arbites describing their function as safeguards against sedition, secession and unlawful overthrow of the Imperial Commander. This gives quite a different impression from this, which says that "it is the Adeptus Arbites that enact the definitive word of the law, above all others." and the excerpt displayed from (apparently) the Book of Law shows such "everyday" crimes as loitering, grafitti and blasphemy. Like the second link, the existing article also seems to place them as your ordinary, day-to-day policeman. So which function is it they have, and if they have both, which is their primary purpose? Whilst I am obviously biased towards keeping the article separate (I have been the main contributor), I think the the article has potential to be expanded, such as ranks information I'm after, though I'm loathe to just go through the Calpurnia books and strip out all information within it. On top of this they are a major organisation within the Imperium (albeit a minor one in gaming terms) and most of the major organisations have a separate entry. I'm thinking a basic entry (a couple of lines)on the main imperium page with a link to the arbites page. I get the impression that their primary role is with regard crimes against the imperium, and that other crimes could be under their remit, in that if there are no other policing agencies to enforce them on the planet. The Arbites could be taken as additions to some armies in 2nd ed. and were availiable to the GM in the Necromunda add-on pack. For this reason I beieve that they should continue to have their own article - Drem
[edit] 2000 AD Influence?
There are some parallels between the Imperium of man and the Termight Empire in 2000 AD comics: repressive governments featuring inquisitors and units in stylized armor called Terminators that fight the supernatural forces of Chaos (or Khaos, in the case of the Termight empire). That would not be enough evidence but at least two writers from 2000 AD have worked on Warhammer 40k, Games Workshop owned the rights several 2000 AD products at one time or another, and at least one RPG.net reviewer noted it.[1] --204.118.65.208 22:27, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] More Influence Difficulties
It seems like the biggest connection between Starship Troopers and Space Marines is armor rather than any sort of conditioning. Also, the Imperial troops are similar to the Sardaukar but, at least not in the original novel, Fremen. Do the Fremen become more similar to the Imperial Cult in later books? And I'm not sure how the Imperial Guard's use of artillery makes a good transition to the Heinlein \ Space Marine parallel. --Jordansc 19:00, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Imperium of Man or Mankind?
I think it is Imperium of Mankind as is Emperor of Mankind. If it is Imperium of Man then emperor should be Emperor of Man (absurd)...
I am correcting it to Imperium of Mankind. If You find it wrong, don't blame me, just correct it back to what it was.
- The current rulebook refers to it several times as the "Imperium of Man" (pages 88, 92 and 109, for example). Changing it back. Cheers --DarthBinky 22:18, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
The names are used interchangeably and either is an acceptable title, although I do think that the Imperium of Mankind is the more commonly used one in the books.
[edit] Suggested Planetary Defense Force merger
Since the person who suggested it did not give his reasons here, I will just state mine. I believe it should have its own article because, although not an army featured in the game, PDF's would be in the Imperium a greater force and more influential on the vast majority of worlds than the Imperial Guard or Space Marines or the rest. - While I agree with the notability argument, the flipside is that this article is already exceedingly long. I strongly believe that things should be chopped down a little if we're going to throw even more into this one.

[edit] Founding date
Current date of founding is given as around 20000 AD, however the most recent fluff date given in the Horus Heresy books is around 30000 AD. I will change the article to say this.
