[edit] Reversion

I have reverted an edit by User:198.138.41.107 that deleted a large amount of information from the article. Some of the deletions may be defensible, but at least some seem wrong to me; for example the claim attached to the edit that "rosters and title histories are all unacceptable as decided upon by WP:PW" is not backed up as far as I can see by anything on the page referred to. Many wrestling feds have title histories and rosters listed in Wikipedia; for a smaller fed like IPW it would indeed be unnecessary to have a separate page for these details, but listing this information on the fed's page seems reasonable. On a broader note, it may well be that some of the information on this page is redundant or needs citation; but given the very large amount of material removed in one edit I thought it was simplest to revert the edit so we can consider the material more independently, perhaps by discussion on this talk page. - Conniption 12:19, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

For example, I have deleted the list of 'hosted wrestlers', because I can't see the encyclopediac value of listing every single wrestler who was ever appeared at an IPW show. - Conniption 12:23, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi there. See the edit summaries for the most recent edits. Thanks. ~~ 15:28, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for your response. I agree with or am neutral with all your deletions except two - your deletion of the roster and the title histories; you refer to this edit by Jimbo Wales as precedent, but I'm not sure you're drawing an appropriate lesson from that deletion; he was deleting a (very long) list of former employees of a company, while this was (mainly) a list of current employees. There's plenty of precedent for pro wrestling rosters being notable in Wikipedia - indeed, there's a whole category of them, and similarly with title histories. I don't see any reason to split these off into separate pages, either; that wouldn't make the information any more or less encyclopediac if that is your concern with the information, and the page isn't long enough that it needs to be split. As such I will revert these, and only these, deletions.
Second, I agree with the need for citations; NZPWI and the IPW official homepage should be able to back at least some of the info up. I'll try to look into it over the next couple of days if no one else does it before me. - Conniption 16:42, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi. Regarding the rosters, I am just following the precedent, by which I mean - See NWA Shockwave, SHIMMER Women Athletes, Empire Wrestling Federation, Scottish Wrestling Alliance, and many other wrestling pages which have had their rosters removed all within the last month and a half. 198.138.41.80 17:41, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. All the edits you cited seem to be the work of one person (Paulley), so I'm not at all clear whether this is a general policy that one person is doing most of the work of implementing, or merely one person on a deletion spree. I have started a discussion on the WP:PW talk page to clarify this. - Conniption 15:58, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

The consensus at WP:PW seems to be that rosters within a promotion's page is fine. - Conniption 14:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
