Imperial Sports
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Imperial Sports was an athletic shoe and apparel chain. Founded in 1981 in Flint, Michigan by Dan Medich and Ray Kalanquin, the company grew from one store to over 50 by 1997. Imperial Sports stores were in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois. Its locations were in large regional malls, as well as power and strip centers. In the early 1990's, Mr. Medich and Mr. Kalanquin sold the business. In 1997 the chain merged with Athletic Attic and in 1999 was purchased by Just for Feet, which filed for bankruptcy and closed and/or sold off its stores by the middle of 2000.
