It should be noted that this image is incorrect, and could not represent the actual illusion. Both cuts are oriented in a way that makes it necessary to view the cube from a side for them to appear as straight lines. If viewed from the same angle as the illusion, the lines would not appear straight but rather as bent lines. In this picture the cuts are made so that the gradient slopes from one side of the box toward the other side: the cuts should appear so that the gradient slopes from one 2-plane (as opposed to where 3 planes intersect) corner of the box towards the other.JW 13:43, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
