IM2 is a multiprotocol instant messaging application for Microsoft Windows that allows users to chat across all major IM networks – AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ, and IRC. All conversations with IM2 are secured end-to-end by default with encryption, ensuring that conversations will never inadvertently fall into the hands of anyone but the participants of a conversation.
The program was initially released in November 2003 but has achieved a remarkable level of development in that time. The program does not come with spyware, adware, or other malware. The developers have also promised to always keep the program free. To make money, they are going to focus on licensing it to corporations for internal chat purposes.
IM2 supports video and audio chatting capabilities with other IM2 users, but it currently does not support video or audio connections to users of other instant messengers yet. The program is under active development and seems to have an excited and growing user base.
Unfortunately, development of the client has since stopped. Both the official download and homepage links are unavailable. According to Archive.org the site became unavailable around April 2006. However, a download of the client software can be found on most popular software index sites like Download.com, Betanews and Softpedia.
